Last week we had a few home cooked treats at home: paella (or as close as it gets with local ingredients), sangria, and peanut butter – chocolate chip – chick pea cookies! Try those cookies with hazelnut “milk”. Delicious.
I started my 4th of July “celebrations” one day early, by visiting the Declaration of Independence & Bill of Rights, handwritten by Thomas Jefferson, exhibited for the first time together, at the NYPL.
Then, today (4th of July) I went to a protest to demand the restoration of the Fourth Amendment:

“The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated…”
Yesterday, on my way to a financial presentation, I stopped at Kinokuniya Bookstore to browse books and to enjoy the origami they had on display as part of the OrigamiAsArt exhibition.

To round the Japanese-themed day up, I went in the New York Public Library and got two films:
Densha Otoko (Train_Man) Fish Story ^_^
Lately I have been going to the office more than usual. The FDA inspection, then the PILOT health tech NY day (which was held in the coworking space where my office is), and a few other things have made me walk around SoHo quite a lot these days. Here are a few of the surprises I have encountered in the always colorful neighborhood: The Pearl River Market store, right next door to my offices entrance, is "SoHos best kept secret".

On Thursday our friend Marsha invited us to attend the Garden City Hotel Gilded Revelry event: reopening of Grand Ballroom.
At first it did not seem that interesting, specially taking into account that we had to ride the LIRR train for 40 minutes from Penn Station (changing in Jamaica) to Long Island. But once we arrived, we quickly admitted it was a good idea.
A renovated Grand Ballroom hosting two acrobats, an electric violin and a DJ with projections of historic photos from the hotel in the background for entertaining, and the real highlight of the night: the most amazing sushi bar I have ever had the pleasure to experience on one side, and an awesome and delicious hors d`oeuvres buffet on the other.

All things must come to an end, and this amazing trip did too. We disembarked in Seward early, following an easy and relaxed procedure, finding our luggage right away, and boarding the transfer service that would drive us to Anchorage for the next three hours. But on the way we made a few “last stops” where we saw black and brown bears, moose, lynxes, oxen, elks, rain deers, bisons, eagles, owls…
