Guggenheim Museum and searching for sneakers
We spent Tuesday at the Guggenheim museum and looking for a special pair of sneakers.
The Artistic License exhibit was quite nice, but the point was to give my daughter an opportunity to experience the building, and first hand exposure to artists such as Mapplethorpe, Basquiat, or Brancusi.
After that, we took the bus for an impossible mission: to locate a pair of the amazing adidas Skateboarding x Beastie Boys Americana, a limited edition of 500 to celebrate thirty years since the release of Paul’s Boutique.
I knew it was mission impossible, but I just had to check. Sure enough, after checking at skateboard stores, and considering going all the way to the Beyond the streets gift shop, the adidas flagship store confirmed they sold out in a matter of minutes the day of the launch (3 days before). Sigh.
We ended up at the Converse flagship store in SoHo, where we did buy a few pairs (included the recycled ones).
