Today, #HelloSummer, at almost 100ºF in NY, is a good day to remember the snow. I took this picture of a promo stunt May 31st at Times Square.
After supporting the NYPL efforts to fight back budget cuts, I have received a lovely message of thanks from Christine C. Quinn (Speaker, NYC Council), along with a very nice suggestion:
Dear New Yorker, Many thanks for your email expressing your support for our city`s libraries. […]
We cant do it alone, though, and I hope youll consider signing up for Council “enews”. These issue-based e-mail updates are a great way for us to stay connected and engaged with you and other New Yorkers about the budget, healthcare, and other important issues affecting our city.

A couple of weeks ago I received my new Lytro camera. Although it is an incredible technology, and allows things that were unthinkable until now, so far I am mixed.
Pros:
Compact and discreet Extremely easy to use New ways of taking pictures Novelty Supercool “focus later” Cons:
You have to get used to a different way of thinking and framing a shot (square! and distance) Low performance under low light (although better than my crappy Samsung Galaxy IIS camera) Check out this online gallery.
Saturday was one action packed day.
First, off to Brooklyn Flea Market (Fort Greene this time). Sure enough, the subway is a mess like any weekend, but one gets used to it. With a punishing sun, the first thing upon arrival is to hydrate (limenade, although I was tempted to try something they called “orchata” which was not, since it was made from coconut and rice), and eat something (palak dosa, and zucchini cheese pupusa… I missed Mimi&CoCo‘s teriyaki balls or TheRegalVegan treats).
As I head for the shower at the gym, wondering if I should stay longer on the bike, lift more weights, or try a new boxing class, I find the real meaning of strength lying right there in front of me.

Question: why do I have to cross the street on my way home?
Debate.
